The Fat Facts – A New Page

http://www.myrecipes.com/healthy-diet/weight-scale-fluctuate-10000001985144/I’ve added a new page, which covers many of the key facts about obesity – facts which are conveniently ignored or misunderstood in the many emotionally charged discussion of the matter. See:

Obesity Facts

I’ve made this a page rather than a post because I anticipate updating it fairly frequently, as more information becomes available. I link to all the relevant papers on the matter there. From the heritability of obesity, to the ineffectiveness of all obesity treatments, to the overblown case for its inherent dangers, I cover it all.

Posting will be light around here. As I am nearing my 200th post, I intend to make infrequent but comprehensive posts in the coming weeks and months. If there’s something you think I need to address, now is the time to speak up…

Please direct all relevant comments on the topic of the page on the page, not here. Thanks.

Thanks, I’ve been meaning to ask for something like this. It’s hard to to get the bigger picture by jumping from one post to another (at least for me). I can see how pages like this one could be gradually edited and expanded into chapters for a book. Just saying ; )

your tweet about there being no causal link between smoking to health outcomes is intriguing. can you do a fleshed-out post on it?

      @anon:

      In the works… 😉

can you also write something about genetic load and cancer some day?

    • Live-Evil / Oct 2 2014 3:06 PM

You’ve haven’t written a whole post about cancer, how can it be caused by a pathogen if there’s a shitton of genes associated with it?

I have read your article regarding Obesity Facts and they are interesting. Personally, I have gained a lot of weight due to my lifestyle (irregular sleeping habits, mainly, as I used to work nights), after quitting work and lots of running, I shed a lot of weight and never felt any better.

    JayMan,

It’s been nothing short of inspirational to discover your blog and the HBD community. I’ve believed in this for many years. I’m thrilled to find that I’m not crazy, not alone, and have an enormous amount of evidence to support my point of view. If I had the money, I’d gladly donate. In the meantime, I hope you accept a heartfelt THANK YOU for all the great work you’re doing.

There is possibly one topic I would like you to cover : the out-of-Africa theory and the alternative hypotheses. Personally, I don’t believe it at all, although I have not read the most recent publications in these last years.

Folks, in the future, please direct all off-topic comments to the “Open Thread” page at right –>. Thanks.

Jayman, what do you think about the hypothesis that Neanderthals were absorbed into the greater human population?

In the obesity article you write about height and looks. So since height and looks are positively correlated with intelligence, the NBA and porn biz must be full of high IQ people. Or?

    • JayMan / May 9 2015 11:46 AM

More recent study has found that attractiveness is uncorrelated with IQ. Height remains correlated.

But think about what’s wrong with your assertion in any case.
